Global Options

Reversible Laytime โ€” time saved at one port offsets time exceeded at another. Auto-adds a second port when enabled.

Once on Demurrage, Always on Demurrage โ€” once laytime expires, all subsequent time counts regardless of holidays, weekends, or weather.

Adding & Configuring Ports

Click “+ Add Port” to add loading or discharging ports. Each port is a collapsible card with fully independent settings.

KEY CONCEPT: Every setting is per port. Your loading port in UAE can have completely different terms from your discharge port in India โ€” different laytime type, holidays, demurrage rate, NOR rules.

Laytime Type

GroupOptionsUsed In

Friday restFHINC, FHEX, FHEX UU, FHEX EIUMiddle East

Holidays

Weekly off days auto-set from country. Public holidays load automatically โ€” uncheck any that don’t apply, or add custom local holidays.

IMPORTANT: Islamic holiday dates are approximate (lunar calendar). Always verify actual dates for your voyage year. Marked with โš  in the holiday list.

NOR Rules

Laytime Allowed

Direct Entry โ€” days and hours. Rate-Based โ€” cargo quantity (MT) รท daily rate (MT/day) = auto-calculated.

EXAMPLE: 50,000 MT รท 25,000 MT/day = 2 days allowed laytime.

Financial Terms (Per Port)

FieldDescription

4. Statement of Facts Tab

Record the timeline of events at each port.

Switching Ports

Port tabs at the top โ€” click to switch. โœ“ = valid data, โš  = errors to fix.

Click “+ Add Event”. Events auto-sort by date/time โ€” earliest at top.

Standard Events

Validation

  1. Chronological โ€” events within each port must be in time order.
  2. Logical sequence โ€” NOR before Accepted, Commenced before Completed. All violations shown.
  3. Cross-port โ€” loading dates must precede discharging dates. Error shows on the port with wrong dates.

Weather Log

Appears when WWD laytime type is selected. Record weather delays with type and times.

5. Results Tab

Results calculate automatically in real-time. Validation errors show instead of results until fixed.

Per-Port Results

Each port shows allowed, used, saved/exceeded, and “If standalone” demurrage or despatch โ€” what the result would be independently.

TIP: Standalone amounts always show, even under reversible terms. Useful when one party argues for individual port results.

Combined (Reversible)

Total allowed, total used, net result, and one combined demurrage or despatch amount.

Colour-Coded Breakdown

Counting โ€” laytime running
Weekend โ€” excluded rest day
Holiday โ€” excluded public holiday
Weather โ€” excluded delay
Interruption โ€” shifting, strike
Demurrage โ€” all time counts

A red “LAYTIME EXPIRED” divider marks where demurrage begins. Visual timeline bar below gives an instant overview.

10. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an account to use the calculator?
No. Use the calculator and see results without logging in. To save, export PDF/Excel, and report issues โ€” register for a free account.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Saved calculations are only accessible to you. Browser auto-save is stored locally on your device.
Can different ports have different laytime types and rates?
Yes. Each port is fully independent โ€” different country, laytime type, holidays, NOR rules, demurrage rate, despatch rate, and currency.
What if my charter party isn’t in the presets?
Select “Custom” and configure all settings manually. Every field is fully configurable.
Islamic holiday dates don’t match. Can I change them?
Yes. Uncheck incorrect dates and use “Add Custom Holiday” for the correct ones.
Why can’t I export PDF or Excel?
You must be logged in with all mandatory fields filled and no SOF errors.
Reversible result differs from individual port results?
Both are correct. Reversible pools all allowances. Standalone shows each port independently. Both are displayed because parties sometimes argue for individual results.
How do I use rate-based laytime?
In each port under “Laytime Allowed”, switch to “Rate-based”. Enter cargo quantity (MT) and daily rate (MT/day). The calculator divides automatically.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. Fully responsive for desktop, tablet, and mobile. Tables scroll horizontally on small screens.
How do I report a bug?
Click “Report Issue” when logged in, or email [email protected].
